Taylor Swift opened up about one of her toughest years ever – 2016! As fans may remember, the singer not only went through two breakups but she also had a really public beef with Kim Kardashian! As a result, it turns out that at the time, she turned to alcohol to drown her sorrow.

Swift took everyone by surprise when she included quite a lot of alcohol-related lyrics in the songs off of her 2017 Reputation album.

A lot of listeners did not know that she was a heavy drinker but now, in an essay she published in Elle magazine, Taylor admitted she started to drink more around her feud with the KUWK star.

The essay was a list of 30 things she had learned before turning 30 years old, and one of the points includes ‘how to make some easy cocktails, like Pimm’s cups, Aperol spritzes, Old-Fashioneds and Mojitos.’

As for the reason why she got to know that, the songstress simply mentioned ‘Because…2016.’

Sure enough, that was a pretty difficult year.

Not only did she have a highly publicized breakup from Calvin Harris, she was also involved in a whirlwind romance with actor Tom Hiddleston, and finally, her feud with Kanye West and his wife, Kim Kardashian exploded.

Kim called her a ‘snake’ amid the drama and the way the public responded to the scandal caused Swift to pretty much go into hiding for over half of 2017.

Despite how difficult it was, Taylor says she considers it nothing more than a learning experience.

‘In my experience, I’ve come to see that bullies want to be feared and taken seriously. A few years back, someone started a hate campaign online by calling me a snake on the Internet,’ she said referring to Kim.

She went on to explain that ‘The fact that so many people jumped on board led me to feeling lower than I have ever felt in my life, but I cannot tell you how hard I had to keep from laughing every time a 63 foot inflatable cobra named Karyn appeared on stage in front of 60,000 screaming fans. It is the Stadium Tour equivalent of responding to a troll’s hateful comment on Instagram with ‘lol.’’
